June 19, 2025, marked a solemn but significant moment in our collective history. A permanent historic marker was unveiled at the Penn Museum (1887) honoring the memory of 19 Black Philadelphians whose cranial remains were taken without consent and used in the name of science. Their remains were honorably entombed in a private mausoleum at Historic Eden Cemetery(1902) in February 2024.
These individuals were not specimens, they were people. Their lives mattered. Their dignity matters still.
This marker stands not only as a symbol of remembrance, but also as a commitment to truth, accountability, and justice. It challenges us to confront the painful legacy of racism in science and museums, and to ensure such violations of humanity are never repeated.
May this marker educate, awaken, and inspire future generations to value every life and protect every legacy.

The Peer Mediation and Support Workshop for Teen Trauma is dedicated to helping adolescents who have experienced trauma by offering a supportive and empathetic environment. This workshop equips teens with practical tools for trauma recovery, including emotional regulation, stress management, and effective communication. Participants will engage in activities that promote mindfulness, problem-solving, and resilience-building. Additionally, the workshop provides teens an introduction to becoming peer mediators, enabling them to assist others in navigating trauma and resolving conflicts. Our goal is to foster a compassionate community where teens can heal, support one another, and develop the skills necessary for overcoming life's challenges.
